In 1974, Ed Fong, owner of Bee Auto Truck Repair started Ed’s Auto Repair Service out of a utility truck he built himself.
He started as a mechanic for the city bus company in which he also met the love his life, Blanche Fong. She was a bus driver and was introduced to Ed by her sister.
Being a master mechanic he built the utility truck that he used to drive around and service his customers. He was able to gather enough clientele to start his own shop which he started in Maile where the old cable vision used to be. This is where Maile Pasteles is currently located.
He also built his own tow trucks and along with his auto shop he started his towing service where him and his brother Brian still run today.
Among his endeavors, he also started a bus charter service where he bought 10-15 buses from the city auction, rebuilt the engines, reupholstered the interior, and repainted the buses and began servicing the local school bus charters and bus tours in Waikiki.
Everyone that been going to Ed for the 40+ years knows that his business has been built on nothing but being honest and up front with his customers.
